Within the beautiful landscaped gardens of Stonnwall Manor lies the old Coach House. With its own private entrance via a quiet back lane through automatic gates the driveway sweeps round into the old stable yard. Set within a Local Preservation Area this impressive cottage was recently renovated with emphasis on the needs of large groups self catering. Completely hidden behind tall hedges and stone walls, some dating as far back as the 17th century. The Coach House is the perfect holiday retreat in an atmosphere of better days gone by.

Formerly used by the Elizabethan Manor as stables and carriage storage, it has been transformed into a warm and inviting house sleeping eight guests in luxury. With 4 bedrooms, 4 showers, 2 toilets, 1 bath and 3 communal areas opening as one big room.

Entrance is through a gabled porch into the lobby which is the centre of the house from which all rooms can be accessed. Here, an open balustrade staircase leads to a galleried landing leading to three of the four bedrooms. With central chandelier and a window seat overlooking the magnificent 400-year-old trees and formal grounds of the Manor. A panelled corridor leads to the ground floor bedroom, small W/C and Bathroom W/C. Under the staircase is a delightful folly room with doll sized period furniture much to the amusement of children and adults alike.

Each of the four double bedrooms is furnished with four poster beds and period furniture. Tastefully decorated with tapestry panelling, stone walls and stripped oak style clean laminate flooring. Dual aspect windows in most rooms with window seats in all. Two of these bedrooms boast ultra modern door-less shower and wash basin. For the infirm there is a large ground floor bedroom with low level walk in shower and wash basin. This large bedroom contains a grandfather clock, dressing table and been conveniently located next to the main bathroom W/C also on the ground floor.

The bathroom is luxuriously decorated with period style but modern and hygienic wipe down textured panelling. It boast a period style slipper bath with feet, a modern sleek power shower sits flush in one of the walls.

The main feature of the house is the huge open plan, barn style living area with high beamed ceilings and exposed roof trusses. This over sized lounge opens to the dining area and continues through to the kitchen. You could be cooking at one end of the building and look right through to the lounge at other end. One side of the room features an original stone wall draped with tapestries, whilst the other side is timber clad. The old coach doors have been replaced with modern but complimenting double glazed French doors that open the room onto the raised sun terrace.

The inglenook fireplace now holds a large flat screen television, which at the push of a button becomes a roaring log fire at great delight of onlookers. The whole room is graced with no less than six gothic style chandeliers which are dimmable at one source for optimum ambience.

Elegant leather chesterfield sofas are positioned in a sociable horse shoe shape with moveable coffee tables. This allows every guest to be seated together to watch the television, converse or play family board games. Furniture comprises of a striking grandfather clock, solid rosewood cabinets and matching glazed tall display cabinet which lights up at night. A rustic rose wood dining table with matching medieval style chairs take pride of place, conveniently located near the kitchen.

Walk through an arch and you will find yourself in a modern farmhouse themed kitchen, with wall to wall sleek granite like worktops and double sink. The large but simple five burner range allows for feasts to be prepared for the whole group. Guests will benefit from brand new appliances such as dual microwaves and washer dryer giving all the creature comforts of home. The dishwasher ensures that even doing the dishes is a pleasure and eradicates the usual who's turn is it argument!

The recent restoration to this large holiday house has allowed the very latest technology to be been utilised. Amongst unnoticeable things like automatic dehumidification you will find no light switches in communal areas. These rooms light up automatically as you enter and switch off when there's no presence. Switchless touch lamps in the bedrooms and in the bathroom automatic lighting of course and sensors engage air extraction.

Outside, due to the expanse of the Manors grounds, a vast array of birds flock to the estates huge array of trees. The grounds come alive in the morning with the tweeting and chirping of birds going about their daily business. An ancient well was uncovered during the restoration and we have done our best to display it for your pleasure.

This large holiday house is ideally located just west of the ancient market town of Frome, which has the greatest number of listed buildings in the whole country. In just ten minutes of walking you'll find yourself in the centre of this bustling little town which offers an array of quaint shops, bakers, butchers, museums, galleries, trendy and traditional cafes. There's also a seemingly endless choice of delightful tea rooms. You'll also find the big name stores that you would normally expect of a town twice its size. For evenings there are an abundance of fine restaurants as well as pubs, bars and nightclubs.

For day trips the Coach House makes an excellent base for exploring some great attractions. Within easy reach are Longleat House and Safari Park, Stonehenge, Glastonbury, the Royal City of Bath, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole Caves.
